About Sidrabene

Sidrabene has been a vital part of the Latvian Canadian community for many decades. Owned and operated by St. Andrew’s Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church of Toronto, the property has served as a spiritual and recreational summer home for thousands of church members and children from all over North America, and indeed, the world.

Originally conceived as a summer camp for the congregation’s youth and a meeting place for exiled Latvians after WWII, the property has since taken on many different roles. In addition to seasonal cabins, several multi-purpose dwellings have been added to expand the property’s usefulness, including a large main event hall with full industrial kitchen, Tuck Shop and a swimming area featuring a salt water pool and splash pad.

Over the years, Sidrabene’s beautiful and unique open-air Chapel has hosted countless weddings and christenings, and sees twice weekly worship services during the summer months, as the congregation’s members take advantage of its spectacular tranquil surroundings.

Although primarily for the private use of the congregation, its members and their invited guests, the property is available to rent in many configurations for your special event, camp group or spiritual and rejuvenating retreat.
